Police are offering a $1,000 reward for the safe return of two loaded weapons taken from a stolen patrol car Sunday.
An officer was responding to a complaint about a party in eastern Los Angeles County when the police car was taken.
Montebello police Lt. Brad Keller said the AR-15 semiautomatic assault rifle and 12-gauge Remington shotgun were missing from the patrol car when it was recovered early Sunday.
The car, which was found abandoned on a residential street in the city of Valinda, was located 90 minutes after it went missing.
Keller said the car was not damaged and only the weapons were taken.
He said his department is investigating whether keys were left in the car when the officer got out of the vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Crime Suppression Unit at (323) 887-1291 or Montebello Police Dispatch at (323) 887-1313.
