Firefighters extinguished a small fire that ignited by a remote-control model airplane's fiery crash, a city fire spokesperson said.
No injuries were reported as a result of the tiny plane's crash or the resulting fire along the Los Angeles River in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, Pat Maren of Los Angeles city fire department said.
Fire personnel were sent to the vicinity of Woodley Avenue and Burbank Boulevard around 1:07 p.m. The grass fire was put out by 1:36 p.m., Maren said.
"It was probably just an accidental crash," he said. Hobbyists have for decades used a small landing strip near the flood control dam.
