Body Of Missing Huntington Beach Man Found

SAN DIEGO (CBS) ― Authorities confirmed Wednesday that a body found in a San Diego alley was that of a 23-year-old Huntington Beach man who went missing last weekend while in town to attend a convention.

A passing motorist found the body of Dane Williams of Huntington Beach near Landis and 52nd streets in City Heights, about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego police and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Williams, whose family reported him missing Saturday, appeared to be clad in the clothing he was wearing the night he disappeared, SDPD Lt. Kevin Rooney said.

The body bore no signs of lethal trauma, Rooney said. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Williams disappeared around 2 a.m. Saturday after leaving a bar at the Hard Rock Hotel on Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter.

He did not return to his rented room and failed to show up later in the day for an Action Sports Retailers trade show he had been working at the San Diego Convention Center.

Williams was employed as a marketer at Hurley International, a Costa Mesa clothing company that specializes in skate and surf wear.
