Missing Hiker Found Dead In Falls Creek

FOREST FALLS Acting on a tip from a Norco man, searchers Sunday found the body of a hiker last seen Monday in a rugged canyon in San Bernardino County, according to a sheriff's spokeswoman.

Tony Jacquet, 35, who had moved to Forest Falls recently from Chino, was found dead at 10:50 a.m. in steep, rocky, and unstable terrain on the north side of Mill Creek Canyon, said San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Jodi Miller.

A Norco man who had seen Jacquet on Monday helped searchers locate his body, Miller said.

Jacquet went for a hike Monday with his German shepherd Scamper in the Big Falls and Falls Creek area, Miller said.

Scamper returned on Tuesday, but Jacquet did not, neighbors told sheriff's deputies.

Jacquet reportedly had a serious medical condition and required daily medication, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The cause of death was under investigation.

More than 60 volunteers searched for Jacquet Saturday, including search-and-rescue teams from Sierra Madre, San Dimas and Montrose, San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Jodi Miller said. And Los Angeles County and Orange County volunteers joined the effort Sunday.
