Gas Leak Stops Metrolink Service In Orange County

TUSTIN (AP) ― A gas leak in Orange County has stopped commuter trains from running, but no injuries have been reported.

A crew was excavating on a Tustin street around 8 a.m. Friday and hit an 8-inch gas line, Southern California Gas Co. spokeswoman Rachel Laing said.

She said the line was under heavy pressure and began spewing gas.

No evacuations were called but Laing said the break was located about 50 feet from a train line and Metrolink trains were halted until repairs are made.

It was unclear how much gas vented, but Laing said it was a large pipe.
