Anticipating record voter turnout, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has announced that parking restrictions around polling places would be eased on election day.
The mayor ordered the traffic department to relax parking restrictions within one block of all city polling places Tuesday November 4.
"Now there's one fewer excuse for not voting," declared the mayor, "we are making it easier for people throughout the City to vote and I encourage everyone to go to the polls and make their voices heard."
And talk about spreading the wealth, if you vote within one block of a polling place, you will not be expected to feed the meter.
Time limits at meters within a block of polling places will also not be enforced.
Street cleaning restrictions will also be ignored for the day, again, within a block of a polling place.
The mayor, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Department of Transportation and the Police Department, will also not inforce preferential parking rules (translation: permit parking).
