SoCal Border Agent Suspected In Sexual Assault

RIVERSIDE (AP) ― Riverside County sheriff's deputies arrested a U.S. Border Patrol officer on suspicion he used his authority to commit a sexual assault.

The sheriff's department said 41-year-old Luis Edward Hermosillo was arrested Friday on charges of kidnapping with intent to commit sexual assault, sexual penetration and sexual penetration under the color of authority.

He was being held in the Riverside County Jail in Indio on $1 million bail.

Hermosillo was assigned to the Border Patrol's Indio sector.

Details of the incident have not been released but the sheriff's department said Hermosillo was suspected of assaulting a 26-year-old woman on June 13.
