Thousand Oaks Hospital Unit Shut Down Due To Virus

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (AP) ― Outbreak of a highly contagious stomach virus forced a Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center facility to close to new patients and visitors.

Thirteen transitional care unit patients at the Thousand Oaks hospital's east campus in Westlake Village were stricken by suspected norovirus. Symptoms included acute-onset vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.

Eight patients were treated Dec. 27 and five more were showing symptoms Wednesday. The unit was then ordered closed to new patients and visitors for 48 hours.

The closure does not affect the main hospital seven miles away.
