Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo was fined more than $11,000 for 30 counts of campaign finance law violations.
The city Ethics Commission approved the fines Tuesday.
The commission said Delgadillo's political officeholder account failed to provide a detailed itemization of how $394 spent on meals and $1,200 spent on flowers, candy and other gifts were related to official business.
There were also fines for five violations of using the account to make prohibited payments to consultants and researchers during his 2004-2005 re-election campaign.
Delgadillo admitted to all of the violations for which fines were imposed in a settlement released last week. Delgadillo's lawyer said the consultants were paid to write speeches and did not aid his campaign.
