Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor Hospital may lose its license after a woman died on its emergency room floor.
Los Angeles County health officials have released a contingency plan to deal with closing departments at troubled Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor Hospital if the facility loses its license.
Health services director Dr. Bruce Chernof says the plan also lays out how the relocation of patients would be handled and how the hospital could eventually be reopened if a private partner is found.
Chernof says the plan will be presented to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
The California Department of Health Services yesterday said it was moving to revoke the hospital's license in light of recent incidents that include a woman dying after writhing untreated on the floor of the emergency room lobby for 45 minutes.
