Long Beach Woman Struck By Bullet While Sleeping

A Long Beach woman says she was struck in the head by a stray bullet as she slept on her outside deck.
Police say the bullet may have been fired during a fight more than a mile away.
The 49-year-old woman said that she and her husband were sleeping when she was awakened by pain in her head at about 2 a.m. Friday.
The 9mm bullet entered her forehead, glanced off her skull and came out through her eyebrow.
She had stitches at a hospital and suffered no permanent damage.
Police are trying to determine if the round was one of those fired in the air during a fight outside a nightclub 10 blocks away.
The alleged shooter was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
Four other people also were arrested.
