A suspected carjacker was hospitalized after being shot by Long Beach police Friday night, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. as the suspect sat in a car behind a nursing home near East Fourth Street and Cerritos Avenue, according to Long Beach Police Sgt. Dina Zapalski.
The male suspect was wounded and refused to get out of the car.
Nursing home residents were evacuated as a precaution as members of SWAT team helped take the wounded man into custody, according to a news crew at the scene.
