Man Tries To Kidnap Girl, 5, From Long Beach Mall

LONG BEACH Authorities Tuesday revealed that a man, who remains at large, tried to kidnap a 5-year-old girl from a store in the Long Beach Towne Center mall.

The man attempted to carry the girl out of a clothing store in the mall complex on Carson Street, west of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, about 7 p.m. Sunday, Long Beach police Officer Jackie Bezart said.

The man fled without the girl after her mother saw what was happening and began screaming, Bezart said.

Police said they were reviewing store security video, but did not release a description of the man.
