Dozens Of Gang Members Arrested In Long Beach

LONG BEACH Authorities say 67 people, many with suspected gang ties, have been arrested following a four-month investigation.

Officials on Thursday announced the operation, which targeted street-level firearms and narcotics sales by gang members.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives spokeswoman Elaine Kwong says many of the defendants have previous convictions for violent felonies.

In all, the investigation resulted in 23 federal indictments and 49 state indictments.

Most of those charged were from Long Beach. Five people are still at large.
