A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy has been released from the hospital after a shooting that left a 29-year-old man dead.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Aura Sierra says the deputy was released Wednesday after being treated for a shoulder wound.
Deputies say Juan Carlos Aguilar's mother told 911 dispatchers that her son was agitated and had a gun Tuesday night in Lawndale.
After a short search, Aguilar was found flashing a gun. A number of witnesses in the area say they heard a barrage of gunfire.
Investigators were trying to figure out who fired the first shot. Aguilar was shot and killed.
The deputy's name has not been released.
