Sentencing Delayed For Woman In Acid Death Case

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) ― A California appeals court has ordered an indefinite delay in sentencing a Clovis biochemist convicted of killing her estranged husband by stuffing his body in a vat of acid.

The 5th District Court of Appeal ordered the stay in sentencing 47-year-old Larissa Schuster on Tuesday. She was scheduled to be sentenced March 12 for first-degree murder in the 2003 death of her husband, Timothy Schuster.

The delay will give the court time to consider her attorneys' request to interview jurors about possible misconduct during her high-profile trial last year.

Larissa Schuster faces a mandatory term of life in prison without parole.
