Authorities said a single-engine plane crashed in the backyard of a Riverside County home Saturday, causing minor injuries to the pilot and slight damage to the house.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kanitzer said the crash occurred in a residential area of Lake Elsinore around 12:15 p.m. when the Aircoupe lost power after taking off from Riverside's Flabob Airport.
The plane, which is registered to Jack Fleischer of Manhasset, N.Y., hit a tree and then brushed the roof of a house before hitting the backyard fence.
Kanitzer said the home's occupants were not injured.
The pilot, whose name was not released, was taken to a local hospital.
