Tanker Cars Derail In SoCal; No Injuries Reported

LA MIRADA, Calif. (AP) ― At least four cars from a freight car have derailed in a railyard in La Mirada but there are no immediate reports of injuries.

The incident, which was reported at 6:18 a.m., happenedĀ near the 14500 block of Macaw Street, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher said.

According to Tim Lynn, who was overhead in News Chopper 2, two of the four tanker cars that went off the tracks went into La Mirada Creek.

The tanker cars may possibly contain liquid alcohol, Lynn reported. The Fish and Game were also en route to the scene because of the creek involved.

Fire crews were on scene and trying to determine what went on with the tanker cars, Lynn reported.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said no injuries have been reported.

Other details were not immediately available.
