Plane Will Resume Flight After Emergency Landing
LOS ANGELES (AP) ―
A spokeswoman says an Air Pacific jetliner that made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport will resume its trip to the Fiji Islands Friday night.
Flight 811 was carrying 441 passengers and crew when a fuel transfer problem forced it to return to Los Angeles about an hour after taking off early this morning. No injuries were reported.
The Boeing 747 had been airborne for less than an hour when the pilot realized that there was a problem in transferring fuel between tanks on either side of the plane to ensure weight control.
An airline spokeswoman says the problem was fixed shortly after the landing.
No other flights were disrupted.
