LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― A "suspicious item" prompted the partial evacuation Monday of Terminal 1 at Los Angeles International Airport, authorities said.

A bomb squad summoned to the scene at 9:20 a.m. declared the area safe in about 45 minutes, Tom Winfrey of Los Angeles World Airports said.

The item was spotted during a screening, Winfrey said. It was unclear what the item was. The terminal houses Southwest Airlines, U.S. Airways and America West.
