School report cards are being sent to parents whose children attend schools in the LAUSD.
The report cards, which will pertain to the 10 schools in Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's Partnership for Los Angeles Schools and most LAUSD schools, will detail graduation and attendance rates.
Villaraigosa is responsible for Santee Education Complex and Roosevelt High School and the schools that feed into the two high schools -- Markham, Gompers, Hollenbeck and Stevenson middle schools and Sunrise, Ritter, 99th Street and Figueroa Street elementary schools.
"Before the report card, no one place existed for parents to understand how their children's schools were fairing," Superintendent Ramon Cortines said.
Grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation and California Community Foundation funded the report cards, which will be available online at
www.LAUSD.net/ReportCard.
By next year, all schools in the district will send out report cards.
