LAPD Officer Shoots Man To Death In Hollywood

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A knife-wielding man confronted by police on a Hollywood street slashed the hand of an officer before police shot him to death.

Officer Kate Lopez says two officers were checking on the welfare of a man on the ground on Curson Avenue at 4:05 a.m. Tuesday when he lunged at them with a knife. At least one of the officers fired at the man, killing him.

Lopez says the injured officer was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
