LAFD Rescues DWP Worker, 35, After Fall

WEST LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Fire Department rescued a DWP worker who fell 15 feet down an underground electrical vault Saturday morning, officials said.

The accident occurred after 8:30 a.m. in an underground chamber in West Los Angeles. 

The underground vault is filled with live electrical lines, according to authorities.

The mishap occured in the 12000 block of Nebraska Avenue, near Bundy.

Fire department spokeswoman d'Lisa Davies said the unidentified worker, who is 35-year-old, suffered minor back injuries sustained in the fall.

Davies reported that LAFD was able to lift the man with a litter rescue basket.

The worker is in stable condition and has been transported to an area hospital.
