Police are searching for several suspects involved in a drug deal gone bad in Koreatown, where two men were injured in a three-story fall, a man was shot and a "significant" amount of marijuana was found, an officer said.
The incident was initially reported to police as a gang shooting about 4 p.m. Saturday in an apartment complex in the 600 block of South Virgil Avenue, in which at least three men were shot, said Officer Jason Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the men, both in their 20s, had not been shot, but had fallen from a third story window and may have jumped, Lee said.
Inside that third-floor room was a "significant" amount of marijuana, he said, but would not give a more precise estimate.
A helicopter and dogs were brought in after police cordoned off the block for a perimeter search for "several male suspects and possibly one female suspect, all Asian," Lee said.
A short time later, a dog located a man in his 20s hiding in the area and suffering from a gunshot wound to his left leg, he said.
That man and the other two, who each suffered multiple broken bones in the fall, were hospitalized but expected to survive, he said.
The search continued for about four or five more hours, but no one else was found, Lee said.
