Woman Finds Out Why Her Car Engine Was Purring

BANNING A female motorist was wondering why her car engine was literally purring all of a sudden.

When she took the car to a mechanic in Cherry Valley, she got her answer: a little kitty cat -- 6-weeks-old to be exact -- decided to perch himself inside the engine.

Not a smart move, of course, because an engine gets really hot and has many moving parts. Good thing she took the car to a mechanic: or it could have been a CAT-astrophe!

Chris Ciminesi, a mechanic at the West Ramsey Street shop, was able to get the cat -- nicknamed Ramsey -- out after taking apart the air-conditioning unit, removing a wheel well and other parts before the cat could be safely removed.

The kitten was taken to the Banning Animal Shelter and, hopefully, kept away from the parking lot.

Ramsey was given a physical by a vet and taken home by an adoption counselor, according to John Walsh, information officer with the Riverside County Department of Animal Services.
