Soap Star Pleads No Contest To DUI Charge

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― "General Hospital" actress Kirsten Storms pleaded no contest Wednesday to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge stemming from her Sept. 7 arrest in the San Fernando Valley.

Storms, 23, entered her plea through her attorney to one count of driving with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more, according to Frank Mateljan of the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

Van Nuys Superior Court Commissioner Rebecca Owens ordered Storms to serve three years on probation, pay $1,643 in fines and penalties, complete a 90-day alcohol program and attend a dozen Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, according to Mateljan.

Storms was pulled over when a California Highway Patrol officer saw a lighted cigarette being thrown from her blue Mercedes-Benz on the Ventura (101) Freeway near Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

Officers "noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle," according to the arrest report, and Storms subsequently failed several sobriety tests.

The actress plays Maxie Jones on the ABC daytime drama and supplies the voice for the abrasive and bossy cheerleader Bonnie Rockwaller on the animated Disney Channel series "Kim Possible."

Born in Orlando, Fla., Storms portrayed Isabella "Belle" Black on the NBC daytime drama "Days of Our Lives" from 1999 to 2004 and won the 2001 Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Child Actor for her work on that series.
