Body Of Kidnapped Ontario Dad Found In Mountains

ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) ― The body of a man who was kidnapped from his home after his family was held hostage has been found in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Police say Santiago Contreras, 34, was found Saturday on a mountain slope near Highway 138. It appears he was shot at the scene.

Contreras was beaten Feb. 18 by a group of armed men who forced their way into his house and took his wife and three teenage children hostage. Contreras was taken away by gunpoint. No ransom note was given to the family during the five-day ordeal.

Police are trying to determine whether there is any connection to an incident where Contreras' brother-in-law was held for ransom in Mexico last year in a drug-related incident.
