Japanese Man Arrested In Wife's 1981 Death In L.A.
LOS ANGELES (AP) ―
The Los Angeles Police Department says a Japanese businessman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife in an infamous crime in the early 1980s.
Officials say Kazuyoshi Miura, 60, was arrested Friday in Saipan after cold case detectives from the LAPD worked with authorities there. Police say he faces extradition to the U.S.
Miura and his wife, Kazumi Miura, who was 28, were visiting Los Angeles on Nov. 18, 1981, when they were shot in a parking lot. Miura was hit in the right leg, while his wife was shot in the head. She died in a hospital in Japan a year later.
Miura blamed street robbers on the attack and was acquitted of the crime in Japan.
