The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office declined Friday to file felony charges against rapper and producer Kanye West, who was arrested at LAX earlier this month for allegedly breaking a photographer's equipment.
The case was forwarded to the City Attorney's Office, which could file misdemeanor charges against the musician. A city attorney spokesman said a decision is not expected to be made until next week.
West and his bodyguard were arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Sept. 11 outside the passenger security screening area of Terminal 4.
Video posted on the celebrity Web site TMZ.com appeared to show the bodyguard smashing a photographer's camera and West destroying a flash unit.
The bodyguard then appeared to grab the video camera of a TMZ photographer who was filming the incident.
