Man Arrested In Murder Of Long Beach Woman, 33

LONG BEACH A Long Beach man was in custody Monday for allegedly killing a woman whose burned body was found in an alley in Signal Hill, authorities said.

Jose Linares, 29, was booked on suspicion of murder in the death of 33-year-old Sylvia Padilla, also of Long Beach, whose body was discovered about 10:25 a.m. March 29 in the 2400 block of Gundry Avenue, Deputy Oscar Butao of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said.

Linares was scheduled to appear Monday in Long Beach Municipal Court, 415 W. Ocean Blvd., according to the sheriff's department.

Linares was being held without bail.
