A fund has been set up to assist a 7-year-old Filipino boy who was hit by a car and critically injured in Old Town Pasadena shortly after he arrived in California with his family, authorities said Monday.
The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Thursday when a Toyota Corolla crashed onto the sidewalk after colliding with a Nissan Altima at Colorado Boulevard and Fair Oaks Avenue, according to the Pasadena Fire Department.
Jose Gabriel Dela Rosa remained in critical condition Monday afternoon at Huntington Hospital, according to Andrea Stradling of the medical facility. His father also was hit by the car and remains hospitalized in fair condition.
The boy's mother suffered minor injuries in the accident, as did two people riding in the Altima, authorities said.
The boy and his parents, who were visiting relatives, had arrived from the Philippines just before the accident, Janet Pope Givens of the Pasadena Police Department said.
Anyone wishing to assist the family may send donations to the Jose Gabriel Dela Rosa Fund, c/o Comerica Bank, 35 N. Lake Ave., Suite 120, Pasadena, CA 91101. Potential donors also may phone bank representative Yong M. Wong, (626) 356-0549.
