Ex-Teacher Pleads No Contest In Sex Case

LONG BEACH (AP) ― A former Long Beach teacher has pleaded no contest to having sex with teenage girls.

Prosecutor Bob Hight says 37-year-old John David Kinard entered the pleas Wednesday to eight felony counts. He faces up to nine years in prison when he's sentenced Dec. 8 and he will be required to register as a sex offender.

Kinard admitted having sex with two girls when they were about 15 years old and taking explicit photographs of the girls before sending the images over the Internet.

Kinard was teaching at a Los Angeles charter school when he was arrested Aug. 1. He had also taught Spanish at Wilson High School in Long Beach.
