Alleged 'Assistant Coach' Bank Robber Arrested

CYPRESS (AP) ― The FBI has arrested an alleged bank robber dubbed the "assistant coach bandit" -- and it turns out he really is a coach.

James Ramsdell, a former subprime mortgage broker who coaches range County youth baseball and soccer teams, was arrested Wednesday at his Cypress home.

Ramsdell, 43, was booked for investigation of robbing a Washington Mutual branch in San Diego County around 5 p.m. Tuesday. A witness to the heists jotted down the license plate number on the getaway car.

Ramsdell, who wears ball caps during his alleged robberies, is also the suspect in five bank robberies in Anaheim, Tustin, Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa.
