A 7-year-old girl died after she apparently choked on a tooth -- which had just been pulled out -- at a Riverside dental office.
The state Dental Board Wednesday was investigating the death of Jacqueline Martinez, who died three days after the March 4 mishap at New Smile Family Dental.
"The cause of death is still pending," coroner's spokeswoman Sandy Fatland said Wednesday.
The girl was struggling as the dentist pulled a molar, and the tooth lodged in her airway, according to published reports.
The girl, who was first taken to a Riverside hospital, was transferred to a Loma Linda hospital, where she was declared dead Friday at 4:20 p.m.
