Irwindale Fireworks Shows Ignite Small Grass Fire

IRWINDALE, Calif. (AP) ― Sparks from a fireworks display has ignited a small grass fire in the San Gabriel Valley.

Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Frank Garrido says the fire began shortly after 9 p.m. Friday and burned two acres in a rock quarry.

Garrido says there were two officially-sanctioned fireworks displays nearby: one just a block away at Irwindale Park and another a couple miles away at the Irwindale Speedway.

Firefighters were working to knock out the fire.
