Police Chief Offers Condolences In OIS Fatality

INGLEWOOD (AP) ― The city of Inglewood's police chief has offered condolences to the family of a man shot to death by two police officers who believed they were under attack.

Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks said Monday that the two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave. She added that her department, as well as the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, is conducting an investigation.

Michael Woods Byoune was killed and another man was injured early Sunday when officers opened fire on a car approaching them.

Police say they heard gunshots shortly before the shooting. Byoune
was a passenger in the car.

No weapons were found at the scene and the officers were not hurt.
