An Inglewood police officer with an anti-gang task force shot and killed an alleged gang member who turned on him and concealed his left hand as if he had a weapon during a chase, authorities said Wednesday.
The death in an alley behind 11118 Crenshaw Blvd. occurred about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Inglewood police Lt. Bryan Mylar said. The man's name had not yet been released, a coroner's spokesman said.
The officer chased the suspect after he saw him discard cash and drugs.
The District Attorney's Office was investigating the case.
Anyone with more information was asked to call Inglewood detectives at (310) 412-5246. The anonymous tip line is (888) 41-CRIME.
