Inglewood Cops Felt Threatened In Shooting Of Teen

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) ― The Inglewood Police Department says officers are not allowed to shoot at a moving vehicle, unless they believe their lives are in immediate danger.

Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks said Wednesday that appears to be what happened when two officers shot and killed an unarmed man in the back of a car they thought was being driven at them.

At a news conference, police played a recording of a call for backup officers made at the time of the shooting early Sunday. The officers reported gunfire coming from a parking lot near a popular burger stand.

Michael Byoune, 19, was killed and another man in the car was wounded. No weapons were found in the car.
