Inglewood Chief Says Cops Went To Right Apartment

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) ― Inglewood's police chief says an officer who fatally shot a man went to the apartment indicated by a caller reporting a domestic dispute.

But Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks told a news conference Friday it still isn't clear if the man was in any dispute.

Kevin Wicks was shot by an officer early Monday at the door to his apartment. Seabrooks says the officer who fired and another officer saw Wicks holding a gun.

A 911 transcript shows a caller reporting that a man who has been fighting with a woman is in apartment 10. The caller later says they believe it's apartment 10 but can't be sure, and then describes it as the middle apartment.

The dispatch radio call to officers specified apartment 10 but didn't indicate any uncertainty.
