In-N-Out Says $.25 Burger Deal Is A Hoax

IRVINE The popular drive-thru In-N-Out wants to drive this point home: they are NOT offering $.25 cent hamburgers as part of their upcoming 60th anniversary.

Despite what you may have heard, or read, the chain is not offering discount burgers. Simply put, someone is pulling your chain.

The $.25 deal is an elaborate hoax being pulled off by a creative scammer and spammer who is sending multiple text messages and Internet mails suggesting the fast food giant is slashing prices as a promotion.

"The rumor is not true," says the company.

President Mark Taylor posted a message on the Irvine-based firm's Web page that said the company has "tried to keep its prices low to give our customers the greatest value. One of the ways we accomplish this is by not discounting, and our anniversary is no exception."

In-N-Out is a privately-held company, and operates about 200 restaurants
in California and four other states.
