The woman found dead Thursday morning in Huntington Harbour was believed to be the victim of an accident, according to authorities investigating the crime scene.
An Orange County Sheriff's detective discovered the floating body near the entrance to the harbor adjacent Anderson Street and notified police at 4:05 a.m., Huntington Beach police Lt. Craig Bryant said.
At 2 a.m, someone reported the woman outside Turc's bar at 16321 Pacific Coast Highway in Sunset Beach looking sick and bleeding profusely.
The victim has now been identified as 45-year-old Anna Krivenkoff of La Habra.
When deputies arrived on scene, there was no sign of the woman. They reportedly saw a pool of blood near jagged ornamental rocks along the side of the bar and a trail of blood.
Deputies followed the blood to Huntington Harbour, where a body was found floating in the water, Bryant said.
Coroner's investigators were notified and police and sheriff's deputies were discussing how to proceed with the investigation.
The coroner's office said late Thursday that the cause of death was pending toxicological and microsocpic testing.
The police said the victim -- believed to be the married mother of four -- had a clear wound on her forehead possibly indicating she fell.
