America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn To Be 'Hillblazers'

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― Actresses America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn announced their support of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton for president and will serve as national co-chairs of "HillBlazers," the campaign's youth outreach program.

Ferrera and Tamblyn are expected to campaign for Clinton in Las Vegas this week, in connection with Saturday's Nevada caucuses, an aide said.

"This election is too important to stand on the sidelines, especially for my generation," said Ferrera, best known for her Emmy-winning starring role on the ABC comedy "Ugly Betty". "I look forward to rallying young people to use their voices and get involved.

"I believe that Hillary Clinton can turn this country around. I am confident she will be a champion for young women and men across the country."

Tamblyn received an Emmy nomination for her role in the 2003-2005 CBS drama "Joan of Arcadia." She praised Clinton as "the only candidate who has the experience to bring about change."

"I'm excited to campaign for her wherever and whenever I can," Tamblyn said.

Clinton said she was "honored" to receive Ferrera and Tamblyn's support.

"They are great role models for so many young women in our nation," Clinton said. "I'm delighted that they will be joining us to help bring change to our nation."

Alice Huffman, the president of the California State Conference of the NAACP, also endorsed Hillary Clinton on Monday.

"Over the years, Hillary Clinton has earned my respect as a staunch advocate for the rights of people invisible to our nation's government, including women, minorities, children, and seniors," Huffman said.

"Hillary shares my commitment to children, and has been a lifelong advocate for improving childhood education and health care. As President, I feel strongly that Hillary will create an atmosphere in this country that accepts and promotes the rights of all Americans."
