Agents were sickened by fumes when they raided a crystal methamphetamine lab in a Hemet-area mobile home, where a young boy lives, police said.
Timothy Edward Bunton, the alleged drug maker, is accused of trying to destroy evidence, which caused the noxious fumes and sickened authorities, police said.
Bunton was being held on $100,000 bail, pending arraignment Friday. He was booked on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, destroying evidence and willful cruelty to a child.
Officers with the Crime Suppression Unit and the Hemet/San Jacinto Gang Task Force served a search warrant at the home in the 25000 block of Leila Drive, just west of Hemet, about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to Hemet police Sgt. Jim Anderson.
Officers also found a small amount of crystal methamphetamine in the mobile home and determined that a 9-year-old boy and his mother also lived there, the sergeant said.
The woman and the child weren't home at the time of the raid, but the boy was picked up from school and turned over to social workers, according to Anderson.
The boy's mother, Rachelle Fielding, was still at large as of Thursday afternoon, police said.
