3 Survive Chopper Crash Near Topanga Canyon
LOS ANGELES
Three people aboard a helicopter that crashed near Topanga Canyon were able to walk away, authorities said.
The Robinson four-seat helicopter crashed at 7:14 p.m. at Old Topanga Canyon Road and Zuniga Road, said Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration.
The helicopter crashed because of a tail rotor problem, Gregor said.
"The helicopter was substantially damaged," he said.
The chopper left Whiteman Airport in Pacoima and was scheduled to return there tonight, Gregor said.
"Thankfully, no one was injured in this crash," he said.
