8 Calabasas High Athletes Suspended For Hazing
CALABASAS (AP) ―
Eight members of the Calabasas High School varsity baseball team have been disciplined for hazing rookie players.
The assistant superintendent of Las Virgenes Unified School District said Wednesday that eight varsity players met at a home on Feb. 14 and ordered eight new teammates to perform what he calls "silly" tasks. Dan Stepenosky says no physical punishment or alcohol was involved and nobody was hurt, but he won't give details.
The discipline includes suspension from school and games, and community service.
Last week, the principal and four employees of Taft High in Los Angeles were reassigned as police investigate hazing involving the boys' volleyball team.
