Fans of the boy-wizard flick waited eagerly until the clock struck midnight to see "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Wednesday.
The movie earned a record $22.2 million in midnight screenings.
It reportedly beat the mark, which was set in 2008, by "The Dark Knight," according to Los Angeles box-office tracker Hollywood.com.
The latest installment in the "'Harry Potter" film series opened on 3,003 screens overnight.
According to Hollywood.com Box Office, the huge midnight turnout could lead to record-breaking numbers for single-day gross and the best first-five-day performance for the flick.
