Task Forces Target Gangs Near Glendale
LOS ANGELES
A multi-agency task force has launched a major operation targeting gang members indicted for murders, drug trafficking, carjackings, home invasion robberies and witness intimation, police said.
The operation began around 4 a.m. and is centered in northeast Los Angeles. The Avenues Street gang, especially its Drew Street clique, is the culmination of a 10-month-long investigation, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Los Angeles and Glendale police departments, FBI, DEA, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Justice Department and U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles are all participating in the raid, according to an LAPD statement.
A news conference will be held at the Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles at noon to discuss the results of the pre-dawn operation.
