LAFD paramedics took the victim to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena.
The victim was in his 20s, according to LAPD Sgt. Patricia Milewski. He's reported in critical condition.
The Pacoima shooting, according to police, was an attempted robbery.
In that crime, a would-be robber shot his victim grazing him in the head.
Los Angeles police Sgt. Mike Smith of the Foothill Station says the victim will recover.
The man was shot about 10:15 p.m. Smith said the gunman "got scared" and fired one shot at the victim.
