A $50,000 reward was offered Thursday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot and killed a man on the 101 Freeway in the North Hollywood area.
Bunthan Roeung, 26, was shot to death about 2 a.m. March 1, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
Roeung and some friends were riding in a car on Hollywood Boulevard when they got into an argument with a group of men in a gray or black Chevrolet Monte Carlo with red pinstripes and possible "F-1 motor sports" paper plates, Los Angeles police Detective Tim Kirkpatrick said.
Although the suspects' car was occupied by black men and the victims' car was occupied by Asians, police do not believe the crime was racially motivated, Kirkpatrick said.
The suspects followed the victims' car onto the northbound 101 Freeway and began to tailgate them, and then one of the suspects opened fire, killing Roeung, police said.
Police circulated a composite drawing of the gunman, described as a 25- to 29-year-old black man with a stocky build.
Anyone with information about the crime was urged to call police at (818) 623-4045 or (877) LAWFULL.
