Assault Suspect Arrested After Standoff In Newhall

NEWHALL, Calif. (CBS) ― A 28-year-old assault and kidnapping suspect was arrested after he barricaded himself in a Newhall home for several hours, authorities said.

Deputies went to a home in the 19400 block of San Marino Court about 7:30 p.m. Thursday to arrest Frank Aaron Hickey, of Santa Clarita, in connection with crimes allegedly committed upon an ex-girlfriend, but he locked himself inside, said Lt. Larry Gump of the Santa Clarita station.

A sheriff's SWAT team was called to the scene around 9 p.m.

Shortly before 2 a.m., Hickey surrendered and was taken into custody, said Deputy Maribel Rizo of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Hickey was taken to the sheriff's Santa Clarita Valley station to be questioned, Rizo said.
